Make music together with Music Broth, Scotland’s LOUDEST Library!
Join us for a relaxed, drop-in jam session exploring instruments, sounds and rhythms from around the world. We’ll bring a selection of instruments from our community library for people of all ages to pick up, explore and play together.
Whether you’re an experienced musician, a curious beginner or simply want to have a go, everyone is welcome, including younger participants, with under-12s accompanied by an adult. Bring your own instrument if you have one, or try something new from our collection. No previous experience is needed – just openness to experiment, improvise and make some noise!
Music Broth is Scotland’s community musical instrument library of 4,000+ instruments and musical equipment. We welcome new members to borrow instruments and be creative beyond the festival, alongside our workshops, youth programmes and community sessions.
About Music Broth:
We’re a grassroots community music organisation, social enterprise and charity (SC048299) on a mission to make music playing, learning and enjoyment accessible to everyone. Our ever-growing instrument library holds more than 4,000 musical instruments and pieces of equipment, from guitars, ukuleles and keyboards to drum kits, brass instruments, amps and PAs.
We rescue, repair and restore instruments so they can get back into action and be shared, played and loved by new hands. Through our affordable membership model and Access Fund, we help remove financial, social and cultural barriers to music-making, supporting thousands of people across Scotland to pick up an instrument, learn something new, play with others and develop their creativity.
But we’re much more than a library! We run workshops, youth programmes, community sessions, jam spaces, instrument repair and skills training, volunteering opportunities and outreach activities, working with communities and partners across Scotland.
We also have a regular outreach activities and presences across Scotland, bringing instruments, music-making and our community library offer closer to local musicians, families and communities. Whether you're a complete beginner, an experienced musician, a curious explorer or somewhere in between, there’s a place for you at Music Broth.
