Born in Cairo and raised in Sydney, acclaimed Oud player Joseph Tawadros is one of Australian music’s most impressive and charismatic figures. A composer, improviser and storyteller, Joseph’s virtuoso technique and adventurous curiosity bring world music, jazz and classical together seamlessly, showcasing his skill in contemporary music alongside traditional Arabic inspired pieces.
Having recorded 16 albums of original music, he has received 14 ARIA Award nominations and won 4, including ‘Best World Music Album’. After a mid-year season with Sydney Symphony Orchestra that filled the Sydney Opera House for 3 nights, Joseph’s highly anticipated London concert will showcase the best of his original repertoire for solo oud, including new work inspired by his recent journey to Egypt.

Artéria FM has become a popular name through her vivid live electronic performances of popular Brazilian and Afro-Brazilian music and folklore. Her vibrant compositions pay homage to the larger Ameri-Indian music traditions of the region, recomposing and re-presenting its sounds with a captivating twist. One of her most popular collaborations, ‘Folha de Jurema’ was released in 2017 with revered producer Nicola Cruz to high acclaim.
MOZÃO
Meet the musical journey of a world-travelling record collector. Diggin’ records from North Africa, the Middle East, Europe and South America, where percussions and the contemporary legacy of the diaspora of these continents and their new generations result in electrifying and diverse rhythms.
MAKKAM COLLECTIVE
Makkam is a London-based collective known for their high-energy and intimate, vinyl-only parties, collaborating with some of London’s most passionate diggers. Their deep, funky beats and soulful rhythms from around the world bring the dancefloor to life. Makkam is a word for melodic modes, music as well as meaning a state of higher elevation.

Paying homage to the Middle East’s popular music history, Hishek Bishek UK – هشك بشك is a pulsing club night dedicated to the region’s vibrant sonic (sub)cultures. From the synthed-out 90’s dancefloor hits, to bass-heavy Palestinian electronic dabke and the newest releases from Cairo’s underground, Hishek Bishek has become a vibrant staple in London’s late-night club scene.
Now in its 16th edition, Hishek Bishek has become a household name revelling in the iconic traditional sounds of darbuka, percussion and percussive rhythms. Returning to East London for the last time this year, we’re ready to get down with our regulars, and welcome new faces and music lovers.
