Marcel Khalife returns solo to Manchester after 10 years
One of the Arab world’s most influential musicians, Marcel Khalife returns solo to Manchester for the first time in a decade with a powerful reimagining of the music that began his extraordinary career.
Fifty years after the release of his debut album Promises of the Storm, the legendary Lebanese oud player and singer revisits four of its songs, which were originally shaped by exile, war, poetry and resistance. The album marked the beginning of Marcel Khalife's enduring musical relationship with Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. Now, Khalife returns to these songs in a new, stripped-back recording.
Intimate and deeply evocative, enjoy an evening of music reflecting on exile, love, loss, resistance and the enduring hope for change.
