From Aleppo to a new world, she carries hope in her pocket.

Dounia and the Princess of Aleppo tells the story of young Dounia who, at six years old, flees Aleppo with her grandparents, carrying nothing but courage and a few nigella seeds tucked in her pocket. Guided by the mysterious and magical Princess of Aleppo, Dounia embarks on a journey toward a strange new world. Though the path is fraught with challenges, her resilience is nurtured by her grandmother’s recipes, familial love, and the playful winks of the princess.

This screening is part of A Season of Arabic Culture, aiming to share culture from the Arabic-speaking world to those who live, work and pass through the City of London and part of Barbican’s Family Film Club, curated by Sally Zarzour.
